We have put together a Google Map showing the main wedding weekend locations and you can access it via this link.
Getting to Atlanta: Flying
Atlanta has a single commercial airport: Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). ATL is the busiest airport in the world and is part of the reason that here in the South we say all roads lead to Atlanta (yes, yes--we know planes don't actually travel on roads!). Though Delta is by far the largest carrier serving ATL, AirTran (recently acquired by Southwest) has a significant hub at ATL as well and most major airlines serve ATL. For more information, visit ATL's website. If you need any help, please let us know!

Getting Around Atlanta
Atlanta is a very car-oriented city and our wedding weekend events are oriented such that it would be at best very difficult to rely on walking and public transportation alone. So here are a few tips:
-
Rental cars: if you are flying to ATL and plan to rent a car, we recommend renting it at ATL for a number of reasons: the rates at ATL for our wedding weekend are low and taxes are not so high that it makes sense to go to the extra effort of renting a car at an off-aiport location, plus such off-airport locations often have limited hours of operation whereas the car rental agencies at ATL are open 24-hours per day. At the time of this writing on December 18, 2011, we're seeing rates available for as low as $13.99 pre-tax, $23.08 post-tax per day for a Compact car. It has been our experience that making reservations early helps to ensure the best rates as there are sometimes unexpected spikes in demand that drive prices up.
-
Embassy Suites shuttle: as we indicate on our Accommodations page, official hotel, Embassy Suites Atlanta-Perimeter Center, provides shuttle service to points within a 2-mile radius of the property.
-
MARTA: the Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) operates a network of buses and subway trains in much of metro Atlanta. For full information on MARTA, visit MARTA's website but what we see as the main opportunity MARTA provides for our wedding weekend is the ability to get you easily from ATL to the Embassy Suites: MARTA operates a train station in ATL and from there a $2.50 one-way ticket (which may be purchased at machines at the MARTA station) will allow you to ride a train on the Red Line (which only goes 1 way, north, from ATL) to the Sandy Springs Station. From the Sandy Springs station, you can take a short stroll to the Embassy Suites or you can call them and ask them to pick you up in their shuttle.
-
Taxis: Atlanta isn't a taxi-heavy city and as a general rule, the expense makes them a less-than-desirable transportation option.
-
Limos/towncars: we've caught wind of some of our guests being interested in hiring a limo or towncar to drive them to/from our wedding and reception. This is a fun idea--and it's a great way to enjoy the night without having to drive. We're going to look into negotiating a special rate so let us know if you're interested!
